Chantelle Jones -
The Movement Psychologist

Welcome to my practice
I combine psychology and movement science to support people who want clarity, confidence, and direction in their health and performance. I utilise a whole-system, whole-person approach, noting how behaviour, emotion, and the nervous system influence each other. I aim to offer a space where you feel understood, in control, and capable of achieving your goals.

I believe the research is strong surrounding about how the body works, how to train muscles, and how to respond when something breaks down. But the psychology behind exercise—motivation, identity, behaviour, emotion, and recovery—remains, in my opinion, the frontier of both health and movement science. This is an exciting place to work as a practitioner and contributing to research in this space connects me to updated practices and the best available evidence base.

Using this knowledge to support my clients is and has always been the goal. I work with a range of clients across diverse settings such as individual therapy, workshops, professional development sessions, advocacy, sports coaching, and mentorship.

My approach
I draw from a wide range of evidence-based methods, allowing me to tailor treatment to your goals, preferences, and the moment. From the psychology side, I primarily use Solutions-Focused Therapy (SFT) because it supports goal achievement, builds autonomy, and helps people feel more capable in their own lives. SFT pairs well with other therapeutic tools, and I often integrate elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also hold experience in pain, rehabilitation, and performance psychology.

From the exercise side, I use a scientific approach to support your movement goals. This means tailoring exercise plans to match your needs, context, and preferences. I believe exercise looks different for everybody, and that everybody deserves the chance to move in a way that feels safe and achievable. I support goals across the entire spectrum—from simply wanting to move more for mental health benefits through to high-performance environments. As an Exercise Scientist, I work closely with Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists to support rehab, pain, recovery, and performance journeys, ensuring you receive the best movement advice tailored to you.

My qualifications include
– Master of Psychology (Sport and Exercise)
– Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours)
– Bachelor of Psychology
– Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science
– Certificate IV in Fitness
– Certificate III in Sports Coaching
– First Aid & CPR

Clinical areas of interest
I hold a strong interest in providing a safe therapeutic space for people navigating health and injury challenges. I want my clients to feel supported, understood, and validated. Many of my clients arrive after complicated medical stories, uncertainty, or experiences of being dismissed. They often hear statements like “your results look normal” or “there’s nothing wrong” or “it’s all in your head.” With me, their experiences receive recognition, care, and evidence-based support.

I have extensive experience supporting individuals managing injuries, POTS, h-EDS, chronic pain, fatigue, long-COVID effects, neurodiversity, and burnout. I also love working with go getters, athletes, para-athletes, and anyone using exercise to support their mental health or build confidence in their body.
